I know it has been forever since I have posted. Not sure anyone really reads this but here it goes any way. We got done hatching about 2 weeks ago, and boy what a year we had. We were able to hatch out some really great stuff like some three and four gene combos..
2010 Breeding

So with the 2010 eggs getting laid in full swing we are looking at a very exciting year this year. Last year we didn't get out first eggs till July and we pretty much Petered out on the clutches with loads of infertile, slugs and just bad breeding it was pretty much a bust despite getting some really good odds on the clutches we did get. This year we changed up the way we have been breeding and it really seems to have made all the difference in the world. Here it is May the 12th and we have 8 clutches in the bator and 3 more we know are coming. Plus hoping to squeeze another 4-5 more out later this summer. With all of the snakes laying eggs it gets kind of hard to pick a most exciting clutch. But for me I like hatching out morphs we've never hatched before like Spotnose's ,Fires and some combo's.

When I first started breeding a few years back there was a start and stop to breeding and hatching season. It seems that over the course of the last two years the time between the last clutch laid and the first pairings got shorter and shorter. Then this year we still had eggs in the incubator and snakes breeding. I really enjoyed the break when I just got to enjoy my snakes and not really have breeding or hatching to mess with.. But such is life in the big city I guess.. Breeding is going good we're looking to produce some really cool combo's this year so be on the look out!

Well we are currently wrapping up our second week of pairing for the 2011 season and things so far are looking really good. Some of our older males are really getting the job done for us. I'm really looking forward to see some really cool snakes hatch out this spring. Really looking to see some recessive stuff pop out. I'd really like to see my Pinstripe go this year he's an 08 and still has yet to even lock with a girl.. I may have to put the old magic to him and try some tricks I have.. But its still early so no worries.

So over the weekend I checked all the racks to make sure they are working right and as of tonight I have 12 pairs together. We are doing so really exciting pairings this year. Things like Super Pastel X Spider, Spider X Albino, Lemon Blast X well that a secret, Enchi X Bee.. We are looking forward to allot of really cool combo's are producing some even better base mutations.. Keep your eye's peeled.

There comes a time in a Breeder's life that they take a look at their collection and what others are working with and the question get's posed, "Why don't I have one of those?". This happened with us not long ago. While talking to a friend we can to realize that not only did we not have a certain basic combo...but we couldn't even produce one for at least three years.. Well this simply will not do.. So I contacted Tim Johnson of Royal Morphz and sealed the deal on a little male.. Now if he grows good and breeds young..we'll see about producing some Sterlings this coming spring..

Once I've started getting some different combo's and multi gene animals into the collection it makes for some interesting conversations. While talking to a good friend of mine about future plans and breeding collection the idea of "Backup males" came up. These are males that will be bred to females along with other males. In our collection these are combo or super males this way we are assured to get a good mix of the same gene. During this conversation I made mention of the fact that I needed a backup Pin male..Our pinstripe male hasn't bred for us two years in a row now (very frustrating), My good friend started to laugh and said you have a Backup Pin male. I assured him I didn't, till he reminded me we had picked up a male "Lemon Blast" last year..I find that when I stop and think about it there are things we have in the racks that get me really excited about future production..Thing like breeding a Sugar female to a Killer blast or Killer Bee female.

Full circle!!

In 2005 I got to see a morph that would kick off this huge obsession of mine. Adam Wysocki of 8Ball pythons posted a pic of his Pied Ball Python. I wanted one, craved one, my dreams were haunted with thought's of owning one. So in 2006 While trying to pay for a House, wedding, and looking for a job I talked my wonderful wife to be in to letting me spend insane money on a snake a 2005 Het Pied male. I found one here on this site for sale from Daniel1983 (if you're reading this man it's been a journey) so after forking out the exorbitant amount of 250.00 for a snake I had my path to hatching pied's. Then in 2007 I picked up a wee little Het female from NERD. My plan was to breed the two. As the female grew so did my buying power so to speak and last year we picked up a 2008 Male pied. I had a pied, my GOD was I happy.. Then this year.. Holy smokes I was doing a happy dance.. To see with my eye's a Pied Breeding right there in my tubs..:banana::banana::banana:So Tonight things have come 3/4's of a full circle after starting with 1 snake and the dream of hatching pied I open a tub and see thisThe Start of ovulation.. I can die a happy man now..

Feeding this time of year!!

First of all I know that it has been forever that I haven't written in this in a while but I'm here now. I'll try and catch everyone up. Our breeding is going great we even got our first clutch of the 2010 year. It was a surprise clutch that I didn't even know we were getting. Nothing like a clutch of Lesser's cooking in the bator for the first clutch. Now on two this time of year that I love to feed so much. It's always daunting to dodge all those teeth but I like that I don't have to wait around for snakes to eat. When they take the rat out of mid air or right off the tongs. It really does my heart good to see the 09's eating and growing so well. I'll try and make a better effort to write in here and keep it up but I stay so busy it's really hard to find the time what with the baby on the way and all the home improvements I stay out of pocket.. More clutches to come some really fun stuff we're looking forward to.

This past weekend I spent in Birmingham AL with members of USARK and Ball-pythons.net. We were proud to be able to host a table at Will and Angie's new show. It was both professional and well organized. They were kind enough to have dinner with us both Friday and Saturday night and show us some of the hot spots in town. Saturday setup was smooth and uneventful. We spent the day collecting signatures for the opposition to the amendment of the Lacy act, banning the interstate sale and transportation of the "Big 9". Loads of people were willing to sign and let congress know how they felt. To all those people thank you!! Now you know W can't got to a show and not add new animals right? Two of the people at this show were also really good friends. Justin from Jkoyblka Reptiles and Louis from Cornerstone Reptiles. After looking over their stuff really good we made the decision that a male Spot Nose that Justin had and a female Lesser that Louis had just had to come home with us. Got home Sunday and had loads to do. Clean snakes and water them, get new babies set up and get the display animals we took set back up. All in all we had a good time and look forward to doing it again soon.

Spent the day fighting a headache. While fighting said pain I helped my wife clean or rather start spring cleaning around the house. In the process of doing so we found out the snow had pointed out a weak spot in the roof. Now we have a nice water stain in our entryway where the snow water came through. All this less than 6 months after having a bran new roof put on the house. The roofer was really cool came out looked and is going to have his guys come out Monday and see what they can do. Snakes are paired up again this weekend. Really starting to see some good signs from the females. We're looking at about 15-20 clutches this year of some really cool stuff, even some 3 and 4 gene combos ,yes I did just say 3-4 gene combos, we don't tell everything we have. It helps keep things interesting. Other than that I feel behind again. I have a 50 clutch incubator to get fixed up and installed, I have some 2009 Normal males still left to move and still trying to get some real size on the super male.. I'd like to be breeding him this fall.Well that's it, snakes are breeding and our years is rolling along, here we are in March don't blink it'll be September. P.S.
